Almost every year for the past 5 years now I get together with my friend Trisha and we do some visioning and intending for ourselves and for the world. Trisha invites a few people over and we share food and conversation and make some wishes.
Sometimes when difficult things have happened I have looked back after a while and I have been able to see how certain points in life ended up with an outcome and then again, sometimes not. I have often felt powerless and caught up and overwhelmed but I am hoping to continue to change that story by using my Mindful Self Compassion meditation practice and my Intention journal with my art as a feature
I have been making adult wishes for about 25 years now and for me, it is a way of talking to Spirit and asking for what I want in my life. It helps me to really focus on what makes me happy. Some things happen in life that we don’t really like or want and when they happen they can make us feel sad or angry or perhaps even inspired to change in the hope that it won’t happen again. I might be talking to myself and harnessing my own power or I might be talking to some omnipotent Being who has the power to influence time and destiny. Whatever I am doing I don’t judge it, I enjoy it and for me it works to help bring about my happiness.
Some spiritual masters say that everything happens for a reason and maybe it does, maybe it doesn’t. I’m not sure everything happens for a reason but if it does then my brain doesn’t need to nut it all out anymore. I don’t feel the need to analyse everything and put it all together like a jigsaw puzzle.I hope to accept it and add my energy to asking for a more enlightened approach or a more loving angle to a problem.
In the last few years with making an intention poster I have noticed that most of the things I write down eventuate. And if they don’t, they have a funny habit of popping up in the next years poster to get another try at happening.
This year I wanted to go bigger so I made an Intention Book! My aim is to keep revisiting the pages as I go along and use them to remind myself of what I have achieved already and what I am working towards.
